City Planner
City Planning is committed to assisting the community in realizing its vision and ensuring Edgewater continues to be a great place to live, work and do business.City planning administers land use projects including site improvement plans, subdivision plats, zoning changes and other various types of development review applications. City planning works closely with applicants, citizen groups and referral agencies to ensure projects are in compliance with City plans and regulations, and also make recommendations to the City’s appointed and elected officials. Additionally, City Planning provides advanced planning services including the preparation and periodic update of the City’s Comprehensive Plan, various planning regulations and tools. Under the direction of the City Manager, City Planning provides a whole host of other services including those related to downtown revitalization, historic preservation, economic development, signage, customer service support, as well as code enforcement and inspections.
The City recently hired McCool Development Solutions, LLC (MDS) to manage all aspects of city planning operations based on their extensive municipal planning experience and unmatched reputation of providing high quality, timely, and cost-efficient planning and development review services to Colorado’s small to mid-size communities.Carrie McCool, Principal of MDS, has more than sixteen years of national and international experience in all aspects of planning wherein much of her work focuses on developing comprehensive land use plans, development code revisions, diagnosis and drafting of land use policies, design standards and guidelines; preparing implementation strategies and actions plans, as well as downtown revitalization, historic preservation, community engagement strategies and consensus building.

Parks:
The City of Edgewater operates four community parks throughout Edgewater. Citizen's Park is a five acre multi-use park located eastern portion of the city. Amenities located in Citizen's Park include ball field, picnic pavilion, horse-shoe courts and a small playground. Walker Branch Park is a 13-acre park located on the southern border of Edgewater. This park is shared with the City of Lakewood and includes a ball field, picnic facilities, basketball court, volleyball court, skate court, small skateboard court and a playground. Memorial Park is a small pocket park approximately a quarter of an acre in size with picnic areas. The forth park is Heritage Center Park located to the north of the Heritage Center.

Facility Rentals:
The City of Edgewater has a few facilities for rent for events and parties. To reserve any facility please read through Facility Guideline and fill out reservation form. Guidelines and forms can be submitted at City Hall (2401 Sheridan Blvd.) during normal business hours M-F 8am - 5pm. Following approval of date full payment must be made before date is reserved. All facilities are rented out on a first-come first-serve basis. Below are a list of facilities with links to all of the needed forms.

Join us on Wednesday, July 28th for the next step of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan as we host our first of two Open Houses. The Open House will be held at Jefferson High School from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. We will have child care and snacks available.
City of Edgewater Municipal Code Sec. 2-4-40. Department of Public Works established. (a) There is hereby established a Department of Public Works. (b) The Department of Public Works shall be administered by a Director of Public Works, who shall be head of the Department and who shall have the powers and duties as are set forth by ordinance. (c) The Director of Public Works shall be responsible for: (1) Supervising and directing all employees of the Department of Public Works. (2) Operating and maintaining all public works and facilities including, without limitation, water utilities, sanitary and storm sewers, drainage, streets, alleys, buildings, properties, lands and parks (subject to the provisions of Chapter 11), solid waste, traffic and public signs, equipment and motor vehicles (except police and fire equipment and vehicles). (3) Preparing and administering the Department's annual budget and assisting with the preparation of the capital projects budget and capital projects program. (4) Coordinating the activities of the Public Works Department with all other City departments, the City Engineer and all other persons within the City associated with such activities. (5) Preparing such reports and providing such information as required by the Mayor, requested by City Council through the Mayor, and as necessary for the administration of the Department of Public Works. (6) Responding to inquiries, complaints and comments from the public regarding such matters as set forth in Paragraphs (1) and (2) hereof; provided, however, that such responses related to City policies shall be subject to approval of the Mayor, and responses related to legal issues and legal policies shall be subject to approval of the City Attorney. 2-13 (7) Performing such other duties as required by the Mayor or as prescribed by ordinance.
